I have been a professional business woman for over 23 years, with everything one can hope for in life, until Feb. 4, 1994. A head-on automobile accident changed my life forever. A careless driver left me with head injuries that left me incapacitated for 4 long years, and after a regimen of doctors, counselors, therapists, and traditional drug treatments that offered me little relief, I was exhausted.

Many health difficulties took over my life. It was a struggle for me to live with an invisible illness that was slowly taking everything from me. Unable to concentrate, I found myself spiraling into depression. Before the accident, I was running a successful business and was lecturing at universities throughout North America to help children affected by war around the world. I was forced to curtail my public appearances and could only work for a couple of hours a day. At the same time, I was becoming very angry because of the medical profession's lack of understanding and their inability to treat my condition.

I looked the same on the outside but was suffering silently inside. I was told by medical professionals that while they agreed I was hurt, there was nothing more they could do except to arrange pain management clinics for me to attend where I would learn how to cope with my chronic pain. For me, this was devastating news. I did not want to believe what they were telling me and decided that I had to do something within my own powers.

And thus began the journey of my life and the Origin of SAFA. With the support of my family, who has a long history as herbalists and with the help of Master Herbalists throughout Europe, I started using different herbal mixtures to treat the symptoms I was suffering from. I was looking for something that would bring me back to the life I once had before my accident. Incredibly, after a few month of taking the herbal supplements and treatments, I found I had more energy to cope with life. I was on the road back to my old energetic self again and was able to put my effort back into my family, business, and humanitarian work.
