Senna

Medicinal Properties

Senna is recognized as one of the most popular and reliable medicinal stimulant laxatives. Considered the cleansing herb from the laxative herb from the leaves and pods of the senna shrub.

Senna has shown itself to be not only an effective laxative, but much less harsh on the intestinal region than most other laxatives.

Its action being chiefly on the lower bowel, it is especially suitable in habitual costiveness. It increases the peristaltic movements of the colon by its local action upon the intestinal wall. Its active principle must pass out of the system in the secretions unaltered. It acts neither as a sedative nor as a refrigerant, but has a slight, stimulating influence.

Medicinal Properties

Sage has been beneficial in aiding digestion, lack of appetite, oral inflammation, perspiration, better circulation, mitigating nausea and anxiety, alleviating colds or fever and sore throat. It is thought that Sage is similar to Rosemary in its ability to improve brain function and memory. From the anti-microbial activity of sage, it has been recommended for centuries to treat gingivitis (gum inflammation).
